It appears that the Eastern Conference might be trying to make a statement to the West with it's Young Stars lineup. The Young Stars game is designed to showcase some of the young, upcoming talent in the league so that fans can get a taste of players who will most likely become household names down the road.

Apparently unpleased with their 9-8 win in last year's competition the East has assembled a team that most closely resembles the Syracuse Bulldogs from Slapshot. There's no Ogie Oglethorpe or Tim "Dr. Hook" McCraken, but I'm not sure that these players are our most offensively skilled young guns.

The Western Conference forwards have 0 NHL fights between the 4 of them, and only 1 in all of their careers before the NHL - Sam Gagner had one in the WHL. The Eastern Conference forwards have a combined 39 fights in the NHL and a combined 207 throughout their entire careers! I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a rout for the West, but I'm not sure they'll be able to enjoy it for very long.

The West has 114 points this season compared to the East's 84. Thank God for Nicklas Backstrom and his back-to-back 4 point games last week.

Did they even give Jim Dowd a look?
