Flyers bring up Nodl

Today, the Flyers recalled Andreas Nodl to the team to replace Steve Downie and Jared "Alabama-slama" Ross. Both Ross and Downie haven't done dick yet this year. We here at FGSB think the move may just be to get Downie a lot more playing time, as his 6 minutes a game on the very unproductive 4th line just isn't cutting it for a top prospect. Either that, or it's to get him angry....and you don't want to see Steve Downie when he's angry. (Incredible Hulk now on DVD!)

I don't know where Nodl fits in. If he's just replacing Downie on the 4th line, then what gives? Nodl has 3 pts in 5 games this year, but I can't see him being a major sparkplug to get the team their first win. Downie can do that with a good check or fight, when he is surrounded by the right teammates. Maybe the move is more of a wake up call to other under-performing forwards. (I'm looking at you, Upshall, Metro, Asham, Knuble, Lupul) Either get your shit together, or see yourself in another team's colors. Nodl will be wearing #14, so he's hoping he can channel his inner-Ron-Sutter.
