Ding. The timer has gone off and this Who Roast Beast is well done. Get it out of the oven.

For two months the Flyers have been farting around with Steve Downie, Darryl Powe, Andreas Nodl, John Kalinski, Jerry Stackhouse, and even Boyd Kane. I'll say it again - Boyd Kane. Dude looks like Jack Skellington out there. What the Santa Sack are we waiting for? Bring up Claude Giroux!

I know we're scared about toying around with the youngster's emotions. We want to avoid bringing him up only to send him down. But the bottom line is hockey is hockey and the addition of Claude Giroux would help the Flyers. Andreas Nodl, for all he's done well defensively and the various times I've seen him without a stick out there, belongs on the 4th line. If that. You don't think Jeff Carter thinks Nodl is brining him down? Like the mute girl in Destiny's Child - she looked alright but when it came down to it she was worthless. Move Nodl to center and let him play good defense between Rockin' Riles and Double A (the forward). And bring up Claude!

After Claude Giroux totally "F"ed me in the "A" on my pre-season predictions he even went on to have a shaky start with the Phantoms. I thought he was playing like "S" just to spite me but apparently it did take him a while to adjust to pro hockey. Like 5 "GD" games. Giroux now has 19 points in 23 games and is 5th among all rookies in the AHL in scoring. And the 4 guys who are above him don't play for affiliates of a team that is going to have Andreas Nodl and Daryll Powe, both, in the lineup tonight! "MF"er. Are you "S"ing me, Paul? This isn't like "Oh there's a Savage Garden concert AND a Sheryl Crowe concert in the same night, which one do I go to?" This is a no brainer! He is the leading scoring forward on the team! You don't think putting him on Jeff Carter's wing is going to help him adjust to the NHL game? Come on!

I don't know what games you've been watching, but Nodl's doing really well as a wing for Carter. I mean really well. He's done great defensively, and he's quickfooted on the ice. Him centering the enforcers is asking too much when he's clearly a great winger.
What Giroux is getting on the Phantoms is first line time, PP and PK minutes that he's not going to get on the Flyers. He's also playing a leadership role, which might be what that kid needs so that when he is called up, he can live up to the expectations which clearly rattled him earlier this year.

I don't know man. Scottie Upshall is kind of the lower limit of what I want out of my top nine. Players who can score can learn defense. Some guys just don't have that scorer's instinct. Thorensen played well too. Didn't like him either. As far as Giroux's development. I need him to be less emotional and more Brian Propp. That's how you come out of Juniors...

I'm confused here Ryan. Have you watched Nodl and Upshall? Nodl can pass the puck, and playing with Carter is perfect … he can find the shooter. And Upshall gives a lot of energy and creates chances with his hustle. I'm not saying Giroux shouldn't be up here, but not because Nodl and Upshall aren't getting it done. Those guys can play.

I agree that Upshall is getting it done. But I'm saying his stats and ability are what I would ideally want out of my 9th forward. His ability to miss the net is unquestionably the best on the team. He bangs and hustles and I love it. In my opinion Nodl isn't doing anything that Giroux couldn't. He's on a top two line making good passes and playing "sound" defense (he's minus 8 btw). Let's take a chance on Claude! I mean Jesse Christ - Ben Eager has 3 goals this season. If someone's out there being playing minus 8 hockey couldn't he at least throw a couple pucks in the pucket every once in a while?

IF Gagne is hurt, does Giroux or Gratton get called up?

I'm afraid it's going to take at least 9 more injuries to forwards to get Giroux up. Maybe they'll bring him up when he's 26 so we can finally have a Calder winner...

Nodl has had an opportunity to show what he can do. While he looks impressive at times, especially along the wall, the reality is that he's not producing points and a lot of goals are being scored against while he's been on the ice.

Could be he needs to pot a goal or two to get some confidence in that department or maybe he's just too green and not really ready for a socring line role yet.

Giroux probably has the higher ceiling and you'd have to think by this point he'd be outproducing Nodl if he was in his skates up with the Flyers...Giroux will get his shot, and his stint with the Phantoms will prove to have served him well imo.
